Understanding the Disparities Data

UPDATED AND EXPANDED AUGUST 2021 Several new charts on racial and ethnic disparities in COVID-19 child mortality for the United States have just been added.

There is a great deal of interest in racial and ethnic disparities in COVID-19, but unfortunately very little data are available for children and teens. Death data displayed here are from the National Center for Health Statistics. Currently only two states (California and Illinois) report COVID-19 case counts for kids by race and ethnicity. Even in those states, one-third of the cases are missing race and ethnicity information. We will continue to update and expand this page as more data become available.
